HOW TO USE THE COMPASS BEZEL
(NORTHERN HEMISPHERE)

You can estimate the approximate compass directions based on the position of the hour hand and the sun. Note that these determinations are approximate, as discrepancies may occur at different latitudes and in different seasons.

    1. Check that the watch is showing the correct time, then lay it horizontally and align the watch's hour hand with the direction of the sun.

The point approximately halfway between the 12 o'clock position on the dial and the direction of the hour hand when aligned with the sun indicates south. Morning is on the left side of the dial and afternoon on the right side, facing south.

    1. Turn the rotating bezel so that the "S" points south, allowing you to read other approximate compass directions.

    * In the southern hemisphere, the point approximately halfway between the 12 o'clock position and the direction of the hour hand when it is aligned with the sun indicates north.

HOW TO USE THE SPEEDOMETER

A tachymeter is most commonly used to measure the approximate speed of a vehicle over a known distance.

For example, based on the number of seconds it takes a vehicle to travel 1km or 1mile (the measurement range available is up to 60 seconds), it is possible to calculate the average speed over the distance.

    1. Start the chronograph when the vehicle starts moving.
    2. When the vehicle has travelled 1km/1mile, stop the chronograph.

The approximate average speed over the distance can be determined by looking at the current position of the second hand and reading the outer bezel.

Note: The tachymeter readings may appear on the dial ring instead of the outer bezel (depending on the model).

As the illustration shows, it took the vehicle 45 seconds to cover 1 km, so the approximate average speed is 80 km/h (50 mph).

HOUR WORLDWIDE

The rotating bezel (or dial ring) can feature the names of the world's main cities, according to the time zone sequence.

The approximate time in these cities can be determined using the rotating bezel.

Example: You may want to know what time it is in Paris when you are in Tokyo (The time is set according to the time in Tokyo).

    1. View and change the current time (hours) to 24-hour format. (10 hours P.M. → 22 hours)
    2. Adjust the name of the city (Tokyo = TYO) on the rotating bezel to 22 hours of the 24-hour scale.
    3. You can determine that the time in Paris (= PAR) is 2pm by looking at the 24-hour scale corresponding to the position of the city name displayed on the rotating bezel.

The time difference between the main cities is only in hours, the minutes remain the same.

You can find the time in other cities in the same way, but be sure to take account of daylight saving time, which cannot be calculated using the bezel or dial ring.

  1. Never change the date when the hands are between 10pm and 2am.

  2. Rinse your watch in fresh water after swimming in the sea or pool.

  3. Do not leave your watch in direct sunlight. This is bad for the oils in mechanical watches and the battery in quartz watches.

  4. Don't expose your watch to magnets - they're everywhere: bag clasps, speakers, tablets, laptops, security gates, radios, etc.

  5. We recommend that you have the water-resistance of your watch checked every 1 to 2 years.

  6. Remove your watch to make the settings: hours, minutes, date, etc.

  7. Change your leather strap regularly. Leather gets damaged and can break.

  8. Avoid any violent shocks.

  9. Do not clean your watch with household cleaning products.

  10. Have your watch serviced by a professional.
